1. Give the unit shade
Direct sunlight heats the outer body of the unit. Shade above the unit, such as a cover or sheet mounted overhead, is a common way to reduce direct sun on it. Always leave the sides and front open so air can move freely.
2. Never block airflow
The outdoor unit needs to breathe. Do not wrap the unit tightly or cover the front or sides while it is running. Keep clear space around it as recommended in your AC manual.
3. Keep it clean
- Remove leaves, plastic and debris from around the unit.
- Have the unit and filters cleaned by a technician before summer starts.
- Switch off the power before any cleaning.
